In today’s world of aesthetic enhancement, muscle toning and non-invasive body contouring have become one of the hottest topics, industry-wide. From different laser procedures to treatments that make use of both hot and cold energy, there are countless new methods out there for individuals to both tighten and tone their bodies, without the need for a strenuous diet and exercise plan. And at Long Island Dermatology, we are excited to offer our clients one of the newest and most revolutionary body contouring treatments around today, the Emsculpt Neo by BTL. The Emsculpt Neo is the first and ONLY non-invasive body shaping procedure, that simultaneously provides both fat eliminations as well as muscle building in a fast and easy treatment that can be done in a series of 30-minute sessions!
What is the Emsculpt Neo?
Building off the success of its predecessor, Emsculpt, the Emsculpt Neo is a revolutionary method of body contouring that works by emitting both radio-frequency (RF) and high-intensity electromagnetic energy, at the same time. Not only does this provide the standard of fat reduction as with other similar procedures, but unlike any other, it also stimulates targeted muscle growth to the specific treatment area. The Emsculpt Neo has been proven effective for patients of all shapes and sizes, with a body mass index (BMI) of up to 35.
How Does the Emsculpt Neo Work?
The Emsculpt Neo is based on an applicator simultaneously emitting synchronized RF and HIFEM+ energies. Due to radiofrequency heating, the muscle temperature quickly rises by several degrees. This prepares muscles for exposure to stress, similar to what a warm-up activity does before any workout. In less than 4 minutes, the temperature in subcutaneous fat reaches levels that cause apoptosis, i.e., fat cells are permanently damaged and slowly removed from the body. Clinical studies showed on average a 30% reduction in subcutaneous fat.
Bypassing the limitations of the brain, HIFEM+ energy contracts the muscle fibers in the area at intensities that are not achievable during voluntary workouts. Extreme stress forces the muscle to adapt resulting in an increase in the number and growth of muscle fibers and cells. Clinical studies* showed on average a 25% growth in muscle volume.
Clinical Studies
According to a series of recently released clinical studies that make use of the most reputable scientific methods, the Emsculpt Neo showed that it was able to consistently help patients in the elimination of fat, while simultaneously allowing them to build and tone their muscles within the treatment area. According to the results of the studies, on average patients experienced some fantastic results:
- 25% More Muscle on Average
- 30% Less Fat on Average
What Areas Can the Emsculpt Neo Treat?
The Emsculpt Neo can treat a number of different areas across the body, many of which are identified as common “problem areas” for both men and women. These areas include:
- The Arms
- Buttocks
- Abdomen or Stomach
- Flanks or Sides
- Calves & Thighs
Is the Procedure Painful?
One of the best things about the Emsculpt Neo is that while it might be an intense treatment, that can leave you a bit sore (like you just had a workout) the fact is that the procedure is completely pain-free! The majority of patients have experienced a series of intense muscle contractions, in conjunction with a warm, heating sensation along the treatment area. Many have likened this feeling to a hot stone massage, and some patients have even described it as relaxing or therapeutic.
How Many Treatments?
Another interesting fact about the Emsculpt Neo is that its patients can experience results within only one, single session! However, for the most part, we recommend patients undergo a series of 4-30-minute sessions that can be scheduled anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks apart.
Side Effects or Downtime?
With the Emsculpt Neo, there is generally 0 downtime whatsoever! Patients can return to their normal daily activities immediately following each session. Also, side effects are limited as well, in many instances patients may feel some light soreness, which is likened to the feeling one might experience following a moderate to an intense workout session at the gym.
